I have to admit that I am normally not exactly thrilled with any player that averages about four points and about four rebounds a game in about fourteen minutes a game. However, in the case of Chris Wilcox I have to admit I love the way he plays the game. Chris Wilcox plays the game hard and with energy at both ends of the floor. Last night agains the Bulls, Wilcox was a difference maker by playing hard at both ends of the floor.

Wilcox is not flashy, but he is very effective. He knows that he is not a superstar. His job is to do the dirty work in the paint and finish around the basket when the opportunity arrises.Wilcox does his job and is aggressive about it.

Wilcox runs the floor at both ends every time he steps on to the court. There is no lazy walks or half effort on rotations on the defensive end. Wilcox fights for positioning in the paint like a hungry lion looking for its next meal. He fights his man for every inch and a lot of time forces his man into some tough shots.

His effort for rebounding is the same. Wilcox may not get the rebound, but his man will have worked to get that rebound. He boxes out and makes sure that the easy path to the basket is just not there.

The best part of his game to me is the fact that he sprints in transition on both ends of the floor. He will be back in defensive position or attempt to bother the shot. On offense he runs the floor and has proven a solid option for Rondo on the break. He had a solid alley oop dunk agains the Bulls in transition on Sunday.

When one is a role player, stats are not going to jump out at you. Wilcox is that guy. Every now and again he will put up numbers like his impressive 11 points on 5-6 shooting, 9 rebounds, and 1 block like he did against Chicago. When one plays as hard as Wilcox does, numbers are going to find you from time to time. However, all a coach can ask is for is for a man to play extremely hard and be a max effort guy no matter what the numbers are. Wilcox is that max energy guy. Danny Ainge made a wise decision to bring him to Boston. Remember Go Green Or Go Home!!!!!
