Boston Celtics Jeff Green Tweets FINALLY!!!, Set To Sign Deal With Boston
The Boston Celtics appear to have put this Jeff Green contract saga to rest. Earlier today Jeff Green tweeted FINALLY!!! with many people believing that he was talking about his contract being ready to sign. Green’s agent then confirmed to multiple media outlets that Green’s deal with the Boston Celtics would indeed be signed within the next day or two.
The deal is rumored to be worth 36 million over four years. This signed deal means all the ridiculous sign and trade rumors or Green health rumors can be put to rest. The Boston Celtics were not going to find a team willing to pay Green 9 million per year and if Green was not healthy neither would Boston pay him that kind of cake.
This deal comes as zero shock. Green was with the team during the playoffs last season after the Celtics renounced their rights to him due to his heart condition that cost him the entire season. Green, despite rumored suitors, never really looked anywhere but Boston. The Boston Celtics even had a press conference announcing that Green intended to sign with them along earlier in the off season. This means this signing was a matter of when not if.
The good news is Green is officially pencilled in as Paul Pierce‘s backup. He will give Pierce the rest he needs and give the Celtics some production off the bench. Green has a nice offensive game with athleticism, a solid shot, and low post moves. Rajon Rondo should have a field day playing with him. Green also gives Boston a lengthy defender at the small forward spot. This means a solid Boston squad that was five minutes and proper officiating away from the NBA Finals just got a lot better.
