CLEVELAND, OH – On a windy day at Progressive Field, Cleveland Indians catcher Carlos Santana was not going to allow the Toronto Blue Jays—nor some gutsy breeze spoil his 26th birthday.

Santana, would hit two home runs and after a botched double play by shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera in the ninth inning, closer Chris Perez would help the Cleveland Indians (1-2) notch their first victory of the season in traditional Cleveland heart-stopping fashion, 4-3 over the Toronto Blue Jays (2-1)

After losing their first two games thanks to a suspect bullpen, it appeared that the Indians would allow the Blue Jays to escape with a three-game sweep.

Perez would come relive Vinnie Pestano in the ninth inning and throw 28 pitches—and after allowing a bases-loaded walk to second baseman Kelly Johnson—would get Jays right fielder Jose Bautista to pop up to seal the win.

Starting pitcher Derek Lowe (1-0) would notch his first win by throwing 7.0 solid innings. Lowe would allow two runs on five hits and strike out one in 63 pitches.

Santana would hit his first home run of the season off of Jays pitcher Joel Carreno (0-1) to deep center to give the Indians a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Third baseman Jack Hannahan would give the Tribe a 2-0 lead with a RBI single to center, scoring first baseman Casey Kotchman.

Toronto would really to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning on a RBI double by designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion and a sacrifice fly from third baseman Brett Lawrie.

Santana would put the Indians up for good on a two-run home run to right field, scoring right fielder Shin-Soo Choo.
