As brutal as this is to say, the Coyotes most certainly had the Flames’ number this season. Every. Boring. Neutral zone. Number.

After a disjointed effort in the first, followed by a series of terrible mistakes on the behalf of Ironman Jay Bouwmeester and Robyn Regehr, topped off with an almost comeback by the Flames, but the Coyotes eventually ended up on top 4-3. Phoenix closed out the series against the Flames this season going 4-0-0.

After the loss of David Moss and Brendan Morrison to injury, the Flames needed to juggle lines to try and find something that works. The good news? Mikael Backlund was an absolute beast tonight and thrived playing with Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay. The bad? The team as a whole looked unsure. And let me tell you, this is the worst possible time to be out of tune.

With teams like Anaheim, Nashville, Chicago, LA, etc. all having games in hand, every game is a must-win for the Flames. In case you didn’t know, the recent three game losing streak is not helping.

What I know is that the Flames have come way too far this season to end things so unceremoniously. The tools are there but the drive seems to have fizzled a bit. The best thing to do? Forget about this losing streak.

In this battle for the playoffs, there is no time to dwell.
