With the Red Sox choking down the stretch, ESPN is reporting that Terry Francona is not going to return to the Boston Red Sox next year. Which means? Tom Ricketts and the Chicago Cubs need to immediately fire Mike Quade and bring Francona in. Terry Francona is one of the best managers in quite some time, a real good baseball man, real good media baseball guy, and a manager that knows how to win in a big market. Terry Francona HAS to be a Chicago Cub if he’s sent packing by Boston.
Look- what’s hes supposed to do? Not bring in Papelbon in the 9th? What’s he supposed to do? Skip Jon Lester? Bench Dustin Pedroia? Bench Carl Crawford? Come on. The players choked. Curt Schilling was incredible on baseball tonight saying how the players choked and that’s the case. The manager can do all he can but if the players don’t run, hit, and catch the ball? Nothing else matters. If Boston is that dumb? Please. Send him to Chicago. Come to Chicago Terry- we’ll love you here and I actually would feel like the Cubs are in the right hands.
That brings us to the GM Theo Epstein. He apparently is also on the hot seat. After two world series? Hot seat? That’s just stupid. He gave the REd Sox the best opportunity to win a world series and the players fell apart. Period. The players fell apart. There would be nothing better than Theo Epstein coming to Chicago because this guy knows his baseball. I LOVE his ability to not only build a team under the eyes of a scouting department- but still mix in saber when needed. He’s not a straight saber guy- and a strict scouting guy- he’s a mix and that’s perfect. This guy would be incredible for the organization.
Look- these guys are winners. This is something the Cubs are not. If Boston is this dumb- and this panic stricken…wow. Get over it Boston and Boston fans- you wanna blame someone? Go blame Crawford. Go Blame Lackey. And Dice K. Go blame some injuries- but it wasn’t Theo’s fault…or Francona. If you wanna write them off as garbage…your trash will be the Cubs treasure.

Bring in Ryne Sandberg as Manager…let’s face it the cubs had 2 former greats as managers…now they have a guy who doesn’t know his a.. from his elbow. Sandberg is well liked, and I think would do a bang up job for the Northsiders.
