The Chicago Cubs Should Trade For Logan Morrison

The Chicago Cubs are starting to build a young, and talented organization. I really like the way the young talent is starting to accumulate, and with that being said: there is still a ton of work to do. Alfonso Soriano just isn’t going to get it done, and will be tough to trade, but that doesn’t mean the Cubs shouldn’t continue to look at ways to improve the club. Enter Logan Morrison.

If the Miami Marlins sign Yoenis Cespedes, it’s going to create a major surplus of young/talented outfielders for the Marlins. Mike Stanton, Cespedes, and Logan Morrison can’t play center field, which means one is going to be on the chopping block from a trade value standpoint. That guy will be Morrison.

Morrison has drawn the ire of the organization multiple times over the past few years, and I believe the Marlins would immediately put the talented left fielder on the block. The Chicago Cubs make a ton of sense from that standpoint.

Morrison, Jackson, and one of the several talented minor league outfielders could form one of the better young outfields in all of baseball in 2013/2014. The Marlins are still in need for a top of the rotation guy. Uhhh…Matt Garza anyone?

Regardless of what happens, the Cubs should be a major player for Morrison if Cespedes signs in Miami. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with not only Cespedes, but the Marlins in general.
