It’s true.  There is a Danks that has been left off the 40-man roster for the Chicago White Sox.  It is outfielder Jordan Danks, the younger brother of starting pitcher John Danks.

You’re probably wondering why this is being reported as if it is big news.  It is actually bigger news than you may think.  This most likely means there is a fairly significant move being made behind the scenes as I type this.  General manager Kenny Williams has never been one to be afraid of shaking up the system and making bold moves.  Why stop now?

With an inflated payroll before really getting into the heart of winter, the White Sox are most likely going younger and are willing to part ways with the likes of John Danks, Gavin Floyd, and Carlos Quentin.  The outfield will most likely shape up to be Alejandro de Aza in left, Alex Rios in center, and Dayan Viciedo or Brent Lillibridge in right.

The infield should be Paul Konerko at first, Gordon Beckham at second, Alexei Ramirez at short, and Brent Morel at third.  The bullpen is pretty much set and well-rounded.  If you have a final rotation idea, please send it my way.  The rotation could shape up to be quite a disappointment from year’s past.  Chris Sale and Jake Peavy are about the only sure things.

The winter meetings are right around the corner and Kenny has admitted to an intriguing trade possibility that arose at the November meetings in Milwaukee.  Christmas could come early for the Sox and their fans or they could get a lump of coal for a roster.  We will soon find out.
