The Most Disgusting Injuries in Professional Sports (video)
After watching Eric Foster destroy his ankle last night, I was struck with an idea. I’ve had a pretty disgusting injury in my day, but nothing like Foster’s. Thanks to Youtube, I have come up with five injuries that are extremely severe. Some of these are not for everyone. If you are squeamish, I advise to not watch this.
Eric Foster Breaks Ankle, Indianapolis Colts
This one just happened last night. The poor Colts just can’t catch a break. Foster is an up and coming defensive lineman and his season was ended in a flash. Foster was attempting to rush Josh Freeman, but his teammate ended up rolling under him and destroying his foot. I’m not sure what the official diagnosis is, but it looks like a severe break or dislocation.
Shaun Livingston Tears ACL, Los Angeles Clippers
Speaking of teams that can’t catch a break, the Clippers have to be up there. Shaun Livingston was a point guard that had all the potential in the world until a game in 2007. Livingston went up for a lay up and blew out his knee. This wasn’t an ordinary knee blow out. This was one that completely tore every ligament in it. This video is certainly not for the faint of heart.
Steve Moore Breaks Neck, Colorado Avalanche
As an Avalanche fan, this one hits close to home. Moore was a young center with tons of potential. That all ended in 2004. Moore was criticized for a supposed cheap hit on Canucks star Markus Naslund. The Canucks vowed revenge and thug Todd Bertuzzi paid Moore back. Bertuzzi sucker punched Moore and drove him into the ice. This move broke Moore’s neck and ended his career. Bertuzzi received the longest NHL suspension in history to date.
E.J Henderson Breaks Leg, Minnesota Vikings
At first glance, this injury is hard to see. Once you watch it a couple of times, it’s extremely awful. E.J Henderson was attempting to chase down a Cardinals wideout and one of his teammates went low on the runner. The resulting collision shattered Henderson’s femur. This was an awful injury, no doubt about it. Henderson is lucky that he didn’t die. If the shattered bone would’ve cut his artery , Henderson wouldn’t be here with us today.
Buster Posey Breaks Ankle, San Francisco Giants
This injury probably cost the Giants a chance to make the playoffs. Without their young catcher, the Giants just did not have enough offense to compete with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Scott Cousins was coming in for a play at the plate and may have went out of his way to take Posey out. Posey’s ankle got trapped under the bodies and it broke instantly. Hopefully Posey can come back to full health. If not, the MLB has been robbed of one of their best young players.
