Video: Alex Smith’s Tremendous Fourth Quarter Touchdown Run

In the second half for the San Francisco 49ers the offense struggled to move the football against the New Orleans Saints defense and in the midst of the 49ers best drive of the half it looked like the 49ers had shot themselves in the foot. With a third and two the 49ers had a variety of option to choose from to get the first down and then took a ridiculous penalty by having 12 men on the field making it a third and seven for the 49ers.

The penalty seemed like it would mean another field goal try for David Akers, yet the 49ers called the perfect play. Instead of throwing the football Alex Smith rolled out and took off down the sideline and with a gorgeous block by Joe Staley was able to score a touchdown with ease.
