According to a CBS Sports report, Joe Paterno was taken off his respirator this morning and extended family has been summoned to the hospital to say their goodbyes. The news comes via the Penn State website “Onward State” and “Blue White Illustrated”. Though embattled in the current Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal, Paterno is an icon to many college football fans and has been the face of the Penn State football program for decades. Paterno is 85 years old and has been battling lung cancer.
