NLB Basketball Team Celebrates Too Early

By Marian Hinton

We’ve all heard the saying, “It ain’t over ’til it’s over,” but sometimes we tend to get caught up in the heat of the moment. That is exactly what happened to KK Partizan, a Serbian basketball team that plays in the NLB Liga ABA, a professional league made up of teams from Bosnia and Herzogovina, Croatia, Isreal, Slovenia, Serbia, and Montenegro.

Down two points to league rival, Cibona, Partizan hit the game winning shot with just .6 seconds on the clock.

Or so it would seem.

As they were celebrating, again with .6 seconds left in the game, Cibona took the inbounds pass and threw up a prayer. However, that “prayer” just so happened to bank into the basket as time expired, giving Cibona the win.

Yes, it does seem that Cibona should never have been able to inbound the ball with non-players on the court, but that would depend on whether international rules are the same or not.

This video shows both the joy and the agony of sports, and reminds us all of one thing: It ain’t over ’til it’s over.
