Boston Celtics Showing Heart of a Champion; Miami Heat, Not So Much

By Andrew Fisher

Anyone who tuned into the the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat game Tuesday night, was treated to a fantastic display of the will to win. Over and over again the Celtics fought back, down 6, down 8, it didn’t matter, they just wouldn’t die. In the end it was Paul Pierce with the proverbial dagger to the heart of the Heat, with a ‘3’ in the face of Lebron James.

If you’re a true fan of the game of basketball, this had to put a smile on your face, unless of course you’re a Heat fan, and then I would still question if you are indeed a true basketball fan.

The Celtics time after time, out played, out coached, and out hustled the Heat. At the end of the day, they had a bigger heart.

I, like most, only gave Boston a chance to win this series because of their heart. They’ve been down this road before, they’re used to playing with their backs against the wall, and that experience showed through last night.

The Miami Heat on the other hand, did not display any attributes associated with a champion. They displayed little teamwork, and often looked disengaged during timeouts. Their offense was basically Lebron and Dwayne Wade going one on one, and trying to make something happen. It’s a strategy that works against almost any other team in the East, but not Boston. They’re too disciplined for that.

Miami needed someone else to step up for them, and it just didn’t happen.

Now Boston is one game away from returning to the NBA Finals, and Miami is one game away from a blow up. There’s no doubt the Heat must be destroyed if they lose Thursday.

I’m certainly not declaring Boston the Eastern Conference Champions, James and Wade could drop 80 and get the Heat to a game 7, but I doubt it. The one thing the Heat have never shown, is the ability to rise above any adversity. They accurately have been described as “front-runners” and down 3-2 going into Boston, definitely isn’t a front run situation.
