Carl Crawford To Undergo Tommy John Surgery On Thursday

Carl Crawford and his season from hell are still continuing.  On Thursday, the Boston Red Sox outfielder will undergo Tommy John Surgery, which will effectively end his season.  Crawford has struggled staying healthy in Boston and when he has been healthy, he has not been that effective.

This is probably the best thing for Carl Crawford going forward.  He needs to get healthy if he ever wants to live up to that massive contract that he signed.  However, it seems unlikely that he will ever make up the value that has already been lost.  He can still be effective but the time away should help.

I would bet that Crawford regrets jumping to Boston.  The word at the time of signing had Crawford simply being overwhelmed by the amount of money the team threw at him.  He has never seemed to fit in under all the pressure and media scrutiny.  When you move from a small market team to a big market one, it does take some time to adjust.

I think that Carl Crawford will be able to come back from this and resemble the player that he used to be.  He will not be the that he was in Tampa but he should be effective once again.  Plus, time away from that toxic clubhouse will probably do his mind and body some good.

Crawford is a treat to watch when he is healthy so hopefully the old CC can return sooner rather than later.
