50 Sports Records Broken in 2012
50 Memorable Achievements
If you’ve watched the NFL games the last two weekends then you know it’s been a year for records to be broken. But football wasn’t the only sport that had records broken this year.
There’s always basketball and baseball, but with the 2012 Olympics being this year, numerous world records were broken. The USA did an outstanding job at breaking world records during the Olympics this summer, including some that we didn’t expect.
I was going to strictly stick the 50 records broken by the USA and leagues within the states, but I just had to add in some memorable ones from the Olympics that other countries achieved.
Most of them are honorable records, however there are some for those teams that just plain sucked. A horrible season may not look good, but it can leave your team in the record books; at least it provided some humor for us.
There were many more than 50 records broken during the year, but these 50 were the unforgettable records, or records that will be long-standing and hard to break again.
I’m going to start off with a record that isn’t exactly a broken record, rather a great achievement. Rajon Rondo became the first player in NBA history with at least 17 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and four steals in a playoff game. He was also recorded as the first player in NBA history to have a triple-double in a playoff game after missing his team’s previous game.
As much as I hate to say it, the NBA league is just not as good as it used to be. There are barely any major records being broken, and players are just trying to show-off more than win.
But on with that, let’s take a look at the 50 records broken in 2012. Enjoy!
