Athletes Tall Enough to Dwarf Their SOs

In sports height often has its advantages, which is why incredibly tall athletes are not out of the norm. However, I find it odd that these tall men rarely seek out tall counterparts. It is obvious that height is not an important compatibility factor, and these guys do not care how small their significant others look standing next to them. I mean, why should they? Here are the top athletes who make their SOs look small.

Ryan Getzlaf is the captain of the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL. This tall guy measures at 6'4, which makes him a beast in the ice rink. His significant other, Paige Getslaf, is nowhere near his height, but it is obviously not important.

Dirk Nowitzki is a 7-foot tall German basketball player. Everyone knows that NBA players need that height to help them play better, but his significant other Jessica Olsson doesn't need it. She looks rather petite next to him, and probably next to anyone.

8. Pau Gasol

Pau Gasol is a giant on the basketball court, and the Chicago Bulls are happy to have this new addition to their team. I'm sure the team is as happy to have such a tall man on their side as his significant other Silvia Lopez Castro is. Gasol and Castro are of obvious contrasting heights, and she looks even smaller when they are hand in hand.

7. Peter Crouch

Stoke City's Peter Crouch has the height that is usually saved for a goalkeeper. Crouch stands at 6'8 and is significantly taller than his significant other Abbey Clancy. Clancy obviously doesn't mind looking small next to Crouch, and we shouldn't find it odd either.

6. Damien Woody

Former NFL player Damien Woody stands at 6'3, which was an obvious advantage on the field. His wife Nicole Woody obviously isn't bothered by the huge difference in their height -- even if it does make her look smaller.

Chris Bosh is a powerful player on the basketball court and his height definitely contributes to his ability. He stands at 6'11, which makes almost anyone standing next to him feel very small. His wife Adrienne Williams Bosh must be used to this as she stands next to him often.

Kevin Garnett is yet another tall basketball player who stands at 6'11. The Nets power forward is taller than the average guy, which is probably why his significant other Brandi Padilla knows she will look even smaller walking around next to him.

3. Manuel Neuer

Manuel Neuer is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and he recently won the Golden Glove in the World Cup. His height is definitely a helpful factor in his play, and his significant other Kathrin Gilch probably knew she'd look petite next to the towering German, but it does not bother her.

2. Michael Phelps

The infamous Michael Phelps is yet another athlete whose height helps his game. The multi-winning gold medalist stands at 6'4, which is not as tall as some of the players on the list, but he still makes his significant other Win McMurry look very small.

I always love seeing photos of Shaquille O'Neal and Nicole Alexander because of how small he makes her look. Let's be honest, at 7'1 Shaq makes anyone look small. He is the best at dwarfing his significant other.
