John Wall Making a Statement in the “Lockout League”
Rafael Suanes-US PRESSWIRE

With the NBA lockout holding firm, players have had to look elsewhere for competitive basketball.  The Impact Competitive Training Series, also known as the Impact League or the “lockout league”, is taking place in Las Vegas as we speak and it provides a location for NBA players to stay sharp during the lockout.   However, not many “star” players have showed up and the league play has been lackluster so far.   Enter John Wall.

The soon to be second year point guard out of Kentucky lit up the league last night.  The Washington Wizards guard reportedly scored 42 points to go alongside of nine assists and eight rebounds.  Even though these are glorified pickup games, a triple-double of that magnitude is still impressive.

Look for more stars to take part in the “lockout league” as the lockout drags on.  If stars like Wall can keep putting up numbers like that, maybe a television deal can be reached.  It won’t be the same as actual NBA play, but I know I would enjoy the best and brightest of the NBA playing in pickup games for bragging rights.
