New York Knicks small forward Carmelo Anthony has missed the last two games with an ankle injury and looks to be doubtful for the game tonight against the Detroit Pistons.

The Knicks have lost both games against the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets without Anthony but they should be able to handle the Pistons if he is unable to go tonight.

Head coach Mike D’Antoni decided to shut down Anthony before the Heat game due to a clear lack of performance due to injuries.

“He can’t make a shot and he’s playing through a lot of pain,” D’Antoni said. “It’s not going away and it just kept getting worse . . . We got to have him 100 percent. If not, it’s crazy to keep going.”

Anthony did participate in Tuesday morning’s shootaround but the Knicks won’t know his availability until right before game time.

Baron Davis is still dealing with a back injury and will not make his Knicks debut until sometime next week.
