Pau Gasol To The Bulls? Derrick Rose Wants Him
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-US PRESSWIRE

Pau Gasol has been the talk of a lot of trade rumors lately and rightfully so. When Gasol first came to the Lakershe played like the best power forward in the NBA and was a force every night. Now Gasol is playing like the second or third best power forward in the NBA and his production has dropped off. Gasol has also gone through many tough stretches where he has struggled to find his shot and it seems as if the trade rumors have really been affecting his game.

There have been many teams linked to Gasol such as the Timberwolves, Celtics, Rockets, and Magic but now there is one more team to add to the ever-growing list, the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls potential interest in a Gasoldeal differs from most of the other teams on the aforementioned list. The Bulls, according to a report by Sheridan-Hoops.com, have been asked to pursue a Gasol trade by their star player and reigning MVP Derrick Rose.

Here is what the report had to say, “Derrick Rose has let it be known to Bulls management that we wants to play with Pau Gasol if Chicago is  able to swing a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers for the veteran power forward from Spain, a source close to Rose told SheridanHoops.com on Sunday. The Spanish news outlet Marca was the first to report Sunday that Rose has given his blessing for the Bulls to go after Gasol with a package that would be centered around Carlos Boozer and another player.”

“He hasn’t said so publicly, but he has made that known privately,” said the source, who spoke to SheridanHoops.com on condition of anonymity.” The second player in the deal would probably be backup point guard C.J Watson if the Bulls would be willing to part with him. The Bulls have relied heavily on Watson though with the recent absence of Rose due to injury. If the Lakers did in fact part with Gasol any deal would have to include a point guard who could help them address their dire situation in the backcourt.

Boozer is averaging 15.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.4 blocks per game this season while Gasol is averaging 16.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game this season. The Lakers, statistically, would be taking a hit in giving up Gasol but with all the trade talk recently it seems that Gasol’s heart is no longer in L.A and that it has affected his play. Trading Gasol may be the only solution for the Lakers.
