After the New Jersey Nets defeated the New York Knicks 100-92 Monday night, Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin walked up to Nets power forward Kris Humphries to congratulate him on a good game and tell them that he respects the way he plays.

“I saw him in the tunnel outside the locker room after the game,” Humphries said during an interviewon “The Scott Van Pelt Show.” “He’s a really nice guy. He just said, ‘Hey, I don’t know why they boo you, but I think it’s crap, and you’re playing really well.’ That was nice of him to say. He’s a really nice guy. … It’s nice to see great things happen for nice people.”

It is comforting to know that Lin is a nice person and seems to be a great guy. There are too many people who allow success and fame to go straight to their heads but Lin does not seem to be one of them. The truth is the Harvard graduate is too smart to allow something like that to happen.

The two players are polar opposites where Lin has been absolutely sensational and has won over fans across the country where as Humphries gets booed in every opposing arena he steps foot in. Humphries was married to reality star Kim Kardashian for a whopping 72 days before she filed for divorce. Many people felt this entire ordeal was for money and to promote her television show which had dropped in ratings.

As loud as the boos were at Madison Square Garden, Humphries got the last laugh as he scored 14 points and hauled in 14 rebounds as the Nets went on to win by eight.

“I love the hostile environment. There’s nothing better than sending 19,000 people home upset [Monday] night at the Garden. We love that,” Humphries said, according to ESPN. “People are getting rowdy — whether they’re booing me or not — but to get a win like that felt great, and sometimes you’ve just gotta mess with the crowd back.”

Even though the Knicks lost, Lin continued his historic pace with 21 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and four steals.
