Rose To Howard: Chicago Speaks For Itself
CSPA-US PRESSWIRE

Derrick Rose is quiet and humble, almost to a fault. The reigning MVP certainly doesn’t act like one, as he regularly defers credit for his success unto coaches and teammates. And while that is an admirable way to manage the hype, it appears that he truly doesn’t offer these statements as mere empty compliments.

At this past weekend’s All-Star festivities, Rose was naturally hounded by reporters, all the while staying true to his character. With endless rumors swirling of various All-Stars potentially on the move, the fourth year guard respectfully insisted that he desires no change in the Bulls locker room. Confident and content with the team’s current roster, Rose denied any interest in bringing another player aboard, regardless of their talent. That is, perhaps, with one exception.

While he did not outright claim to be pining for the addition of All-Universe Center, Dwight Howard, the timid Guard acknowledged that, if the big man was to come aboard, the Bulls would be, “Pretty good.” Now, this may not sound like much, as the assessment is as obvious as it is understated, but considering how candid and reserved the Bulls star has always been, his words quietly speak volumes.

In these conversations, Rose seemed to be trying not to get his hopes up for a Howard acquisition, maintaining the belief that with or without him, the Bulls can achieve the ultimate success. And why should he think otherwise? Chicago currently boasts the most wins in the NBA, with 30, and more then half of them coming on the road, which also marks a league best. Their team offense is ranked sixth in the league, which coupled with their second ranked defense, only adds credence to their championship aspirations.

And while the age old saying goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, the addition of a player like Dwight Howard would seemingly have no adverse affect on the Bulls momentum. His skill-set would naturally slide right into an already existing role, while his talent would only be enhanced by that of Rose’s, and vice versa. The two players combined would be the most explosive and dynamic duo in the NBA today, as they’d bookend the starting five and compliment each other’s game perfectly.

Yet for any hope of this combination, be it silent or otherwise, Rose maintains that he will not play the role of recruiter, simply stating, “Chicago speaks for itself.”
