Andrew Bynum, center for the Los Angeles Lakers, was reportedly fined an undisclosed amount for “numerous infractions” while also missing a meeting with general manager Mitch Kupchak. Bynum said he knew nothing about the fines and it seems even if he did he has no intentions of discussing it with the media.

The Lakers will play the New Jersey Nets Tuesday night but it is still unknown if Bynum will be able to suit up for the game due to a sprained ankle he suffered in the first quarter against the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. He did not participate in the shootaround today and took anti-inflammatory medicine to help with the swelling.

Head coach Mike Brown said Bynum was a game-time decision against the Nets while the All-Star center believes he is more likely to miss the game and start against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

Bynum is having the best season of his career while also having the healthiest. He has been known for missing huge chunks of the regular season and postseason with several different injuries, most notably his knees. In fact, he has missed an average of 31 games a season over a five-year span.

In 49 games this year, he is averaging 17.9 points and 12.0 rebounds per game which are both career-highs. He also has the second-highest shooting percentage in the NBA with 58.1 percent from the field.

Los Angeles needs Bynum to continue his impressive work on the court and maintain discipline off of it. Missing meetings, getting ejected from games and simply not participating in team activities will bring distractions the Lakers simply do not want to have. If he wants to continue the best season of his career he must finish it off strong by helping Los Angeles make a big push through the postseason.
