Gerald Green Looking To Re-Sign With Boston Celtics?

If there has been one bright spot on the New Jersey Nets this season other than the terrific play of Deron Williams and the strong emergence of forward Kris Humphries, it has been the mid-season pick up of guard Gerald Green. The Nets signed Green to a 10-day contract earlier in the season and since then has made his mark on the team.

However, according to a tweet from A. Sharrod Blakely of Comcast SportsNet, Green would not mind re-signing with the team that drafted him in 2005 with the 18th pick in the draft, the Boston Celtics. The Celtics drafted Green straight out of high school in Houston and did not live up to all the hype.

From 2005-2009, Green played for Boston, the Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks before playing overseas in Russia and China. He returned to the United States this season signing with the NBA D-League’s Los Angeles D-Fenders and was signed by the Nets in February.

Since joining the Nets, he has added a different element that was not there before, athleticism. Green and Williams have hooked up for multiple alley-oops this season and have really shown how high Green could jump. He is averaging 13.0 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game in as little as 25 games for the Nets this season.

The Nets did not do so well this season though. They are 22-39 with five games remaining this season. The Nets are set to move to Brooklyn next season and play at the state of the art Barclays Center.
