The Dallas Cowboys will rely heavily on rookie running back DeMarco Murray during Sunday’s showdown with the St. Louis Rams. Murray was forced into a feature role after Cowboys starting running back Felix Jones went down with an ankle injury during the team’s 20-16 loss to the New England Patriots. Murray knows he will be the Cowboys’ primary runner against the Rams and the third-round draft pick is looking forward to the challenge.

“I know I’m ready,” Murray said. “I’m not trying to show anybody outside of this locker room that I’m ready or not. I’m playing for myself and my teammates to get the win.”

It’s nice to hear a youngster speak in such a modest, yet confident manner. Cowboys running back Tashard Choice was outplayed by Murray against New England, but never shuts up. That’s not a knock at him, either; I’ve driven the Choice bandwagon for quite some time. However, he talks a bigger game than he’s played recently.

We can’t forget his 100-yard performances over the past three years when he’s been given the chance, but he fumbled the ball when his team needed him the most against the Patriots. Yet he continually tweets what he’s going to do. He may not get the chance now that Murray has swiped the spotlight.
