Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas and St. Louis, Missouri are very proud areas right now. The Dallas Cowboys and St. Louis Rams will square off at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday afternoon right before the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals begin Game 4 of the World Series just two blocks away at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. To recognize the dual-sport event of both cities, outfielders Josh Hamilton of the Rangers and Lance Berkman of the Cardinals will represent their cities’ NFL teams during the coin toss.
Instead of the Rams’ team captains calling heads or tails at midfield and shaking hands with the Cowboys’ team captains, Berkman will make the call and shake Hamilton’s hand. It may be in good sport, but it also may be the last time. Hamilton is fighting through a groin injury during the Fall Classic and there’s a very slight chance he may not play Sunday.
The Rangers currently trail the Cardinals 2-1 in the World Series after giving up three home runs to Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols in Game 3 on Saturday. The Rams are 0-5 and starting quarterback Sam Bradford has been ruled out of the game against the 2-3 Cowboys. Regardless, St. Louis will be well-represented on Sunday and it’s sure to be a great sports day for both cities.
