Dirk Nowitzki took to Twitter to start up a few rumors about his NBA career and future with the Dallas Mavericks. Dirk isn’t one of those players that uses twitter on a daily basis or the type of person that starts rumors, but on August 26th he answered questions for a few fans of his. There was two questions that got everyone talking.

@DribblePasShoot@swish41 Your game looks like it will age really well, how many more yrs you playing?” 2 for sure and then see how I feel.

So Dirk says he will finish out his final two years of the four-year deal he signed before the 2010-2011 season. But another question was asked about his future.

@keith_king@swish41 Why not just jump ship to some “Super” team?” I bleed blue.

I hope this helps all the die-hard Mavericks fans sleep better at night. The face of the Dallas Mavericks entire existence will most likely finish out his career as a Maverick. But how much longer will that be?

Dirk is 34 years old. He will be 36 by the time his contract is up. This may be hard for fans to accept, but he should most likely hang them up after his current deal is finish. Dirk is a superstar talent that should go out somewhat on top. Nobody wants to see a former All-Star sitting at the end of the bench or struggling to keep up with his opponent.

If Dirk can somehow find the fountain of youth and continue to produce at a high level then he should stretch out his career a year or two longer. But lets face it, most players are a shell of themselves after the age of 36. The grind of an NBA season is much harder. What do you think Mavericks fans; Should he retire or continue playing in two years? Leave your answer in the comment section below.
