The Detroit Lions toasted their home fans to a 24-13 win over long time rival the Chicago Bears. The crowd was up and loud before, during, and after the game.

All throughout the day on Monday in Detroit there was a vibe that had not been present in many years. You could not go very far down a city street without hearing something about the Lions.

Detroit fans were also staying tuned to the American League Championship that features the hometown Tigers going up against the Texas Rangers.

Tailgaters were as festive as ever. Some even brought big flat screen TV’s to keep up on the tigers game. A playoff type atmosphere was in the air. Even if a person was not a Lions fan they would have to admire how Detroit’s finest were out in full support of their team.

The vibe and atmosphere carried itself into Ford Field where Lions fans kept the Bears offense out of tune all night. The noise factor in the building was definitely a factor throughout the night.

The crowd noise in Ford Field last night was the loudest I’ve ever heard at a pro football game. I know the 12th man factor for the Seattle Seahawks is supposed to be as loud as it gets. Considering this is a city that has not had any good reason to root for football up until recently, Detroit fans made their presence felt.

Matthew Stafford, “Megatron” Calvin Johnson, Jahvid Best, and the Lions defense as a unit deserve kudos for their performance on the big stage. One thing the Lions cannot say is that they did not have any help.

Home field advantage was alive and well on Monday night and Detroit’s finest were happy to participate.
