Playoff push pick-ups

As I went through the free agent list this evening, I noticed quite a few names that could help my team and I noticed that there are a few names still available that could help for the final push for the playoffs.

Jeremy Guthrie, SP – Baltimore Orioles
The man I grabbed for myself, Guthrie has been a force recently and will definitely help my team, even if it’s only for a start or two. Over the past 30 days, the righty is 4-2 with an ERA of 1.54 and a WHIP of 0.89. Those are the kind of numbers that could help anyone.

Kevin Correia, SP – San Diego Padres
The secret to the Pads success this year has been pitching, and Correia has been a huge part of that. In the past 30 days, he has won five games while keeping his ERA at 2.70 and his WHIP at 1.10. Correia could boost almost any anemic pitching staff.

Todd Helton, 1B – Colorado Rockies
This aging slugger still has some pop in his bat. In the last 30 days, his OPS is .866 and he has hit two home runs, driven in five and scored six times. He has done this while keeping his strikeouts low, just seven over that span. Helton is certainly good for your team’s batting average or OPS stats.

Mike Lowell, 1B/3B – Boston Red Sox
Since coming back from the disabled list, Lowell has done his best Youk impersonation. He has hit .302 with eight runs, two home runs, seven RBI and only six strikeouts. Combined with his OPS of .889, Lowell could be just the bat to fill holes in your stats.
