In fantasy basketball it is better to know too much, then to be the guy frantically flipping through books looking for the starting center of the Washington Wizards; it is JaVale McGee. Knowing the player pool is the key to having a successful draft. Below are my top ten point guards for the shortened NBA season:

1. Derrick Rose, CHI – D-Rose averaged 25.0 points and 7.7 dimes a game, while becoming the most explosive player in the game.

2. Chris Paul, LAC – Last year, Paul had the worst shooting season of his life, but he will thrive in Los Angeles with a team tailored around him.

 3. Rajon Rondo, BOS – “RR” was second in the NBA with 11.2 assists last year and the 25-year old will always post big numbers in the Celtics veteran offense.

4. Russell Westbrook, CHA – “Westy” is very dangerous on the fast-break and the speedster can score points in bunches. He is progressing nicely with 8.2 assists last year and is among the only point guards who can drive the ball to the rack.

5. Deron Williams, NJ – Williams may not be scoring as much as he did in Utah, but his assists jumped from 8.7 with the Jazz to a staggering 12.8 assist per game with his new team. “D-Will” is a top-five point guard when healthy, but it is worth noting that he did miss 13 games in the two and half months with New Jersey.

6. Steve Nash, PHO – Nash is not the shooter that he once was, but the 37-year old still knows how to dish the ball by leading the NBA with 11.4 assists last year.

 7. Stephen Curry, GS – Curry has always been a dominant scorer, but he is severely undervalued as a guy who can consistently get assists and steals.

8. John Wall, WSH – Wall posted reasonable stats across the board with 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 8.3 assists in his rookie year. He will only get better with time and is one of the best keeper options amongst the guards.

9. Tony Parker, SA – Despite the recent marital concerns and declining health, Parker is still a respectable source of points and field goal percentage.

10. Jason Kidd, DAL – Kidd’s role may be diminishing in Dallas, but he is still very capable of posting great fantasy numbers.

Just missed: Devin Harris (UTA), Raymond Felton (POR), Jameer Nelson (ORL), and Jrue Holiday (PHI)

There will be more positional rankings to follow in the next several days.
