Fantasy Football Flex Play Options for Week 4: Wide Receivers

It’s already Week 4 in the NFL and fantasy football season! This time of the season is one of the hardest times during the fantasy season. The bye weeks are here, and if you are owners of wide receivers like Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb or Steve Smith, then you are looking for someone to fill in at your wide receiver position and more than likely your flex plays.

If this is you, than these three players may be nice additions for your team this week and also moving forward this season.

Josh Gordon: After an 0-2 start and trading away their starting running back Trent Richardson, the Cleveland Browns stunned the Minnesota Vikings. Not only did the Browns win the game, but their offense showed up in a big way. Tight end Jordan Cameron had three touchdowns and is slowly becoming the next big fantasy football tight end.

The big shocker for the Browns, besides the huge debut of quarterback Brian Hoyer, was the return of suspended wide receiver Gordon. He made a huge bang in fantasy football, getting 19 targets with 146 yards and a touchdown. He was the must-get guy in fantasy football this week.

If you were lucky enough to get him off the waiver wire, then you need to seriously play him this week. The Browns have a game against the division rival Cincinnati Bengals. The Browns’ running game is pretty much nonexistent at this point, so look for a whole lot of passes going to Gordon on Sunday. Look for at least one deep ball catch and a touchdown.

Kendall Wright: One of the biggest surprises of this young NFL season has to be the Tennessee Titans. The Titans’ offense looks to be clicking more than anyone ever expected. Jake Locker is starting to develop as a quarterback and it is showing in his wide receivers.

Former first round pick Wright is beginning to show that he needs to be in the starting lineup. He is beginning to get more and more snaps as the second receiver in Tennessee. His skill set is starting to develop, and he is developing more and more of a chemistry with Locker. In his last two games, Wright has either had a touchdown or over 70 yards receiving.

The Titans face the New York Jets this week and should get plenty of chances to move the football. Look for Wright to be targeted as the Jets will be focusing on Nate Washington. Wright should get a look or two in the end zone this week. If you need a play at receiver or flex, Wright is definitely a strong choice.

Jason AvantChip Kelly’s high-flying Philadelphia Eagles’ offense has been moving the football, but his team is still 1-2. Teams will be focusing more and more on stopping offensive weapons DeSean Jackson and LeSean McCoy.

This should give Avant some room to work. He has been one of those fantasy players that owners worry about every year. There are games when he blows up, and then other games where you did not even know he was on the field. This week, the  Eagles are going against the offensive juggernaut Denver Broncos. This means that the Eagles are going to have to put up a whole lot of points, especially with their very shaky defense.

Look for Avant to get a ton of looks and have a great chance to get over 100 yards receiving and a possible touchdown.
