Week 12 Fantasy Football IDP: Defensive Back Sleepers

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Each week of the fantasy football season, there are plenty of sleeper articles out there for offensive players. However, there are never enough IDP sleepers. So to help you set your final lineup in IDP leagues, here are my top fantasy sleeper defensive backs for Week 12.

DB Major Wright, Chicago Bears – Since CB Charles Tillman was placed on IR with a triceps injury, Wright has really stepped up for the Bears. The safety has averaged 5.4 hits over his last five games, while adding three forced fumbles and an interception. Chicago faces a depleted St. Louis Rams offense this weekend and Wright will frustrate QB Kellen Clemens all afternoon. Look for the defensive back to come up big for fantasy owners in Week 12.

DB T. J. Ward, Cleveland Browns – Ward has done it all for the Brownies in recent weeks. The safety has racked up double-digit tackles in three straight games and has been a strong DB to utilize in any IDP format.  Ward should once again rack up over eight tackles against a Pittsburgh Steelers team that loves to establish the run.

DB Jonathan Cyprien, Jacksonville Jaguars – One of the great things about owning a defender on a team with a porous offense is that he will always be on the field. That can certainly be said for Cyprien, as the safety was on the field for 69 of the team’s 69 defensive plays last week alone. JC has 62 tackles on the year and the defensive back has averaged 6.5 hits over the last six games. He will get plenty of chances to make a play against a Houston Texans team that will continue to throw the ball without RB Arian Foster.
