Fantasy Football Championship: Kirk Cousins Will Bring You Victory

Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins rewarded fantasy owners who rolled the dice on him last week with a huge performance against the Atlanta Falcons. The backup quarterback for the Washington Redskins threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns, good for over 20 fantasy points. It was just his second time starting in his young career but it certainly didn’t seem like it. Granted, he did his damage against one of the worst defenses in the league but for our purposes that doesn’t really matter. This week he’ll be going up against an even more atrocious unit.

The Dallas Cowboys might be the most unbalanced team in the NFL. They have a great offense but their defense is making a strong argument for being one of the worst of all time. Completely hopeless and inept, the Cowboys make every quarterback they face look like Joe Montana. This will be the fourth straight week they take on a backup quarterback after failing miserably in their efforts to contain any of the three prior. In their last three games they allowed the likes of Matt McGloin, Josh McCown and Matt Flynn to combine to go 71 for 105 on pass attempts for 902 yards and eight touchdowns. There’s every reason to believe Cousins will shred them in similar fashion this week.

He might not have much in the way of name-value at the moment but that doesn’t mean Cousins lacks fantasy value. For quarterbacks, facing Dallas is like unwrapping gifts on Christmas morning. If you need to use him don’t be afraid to do so. Let the backup lead you to the promised land.
