Top 5 Fantasy Football IDP Rookies
In IDP formats, there only so many rookies that are capable of contributing in their first year. To help you identify those young stars, here are the top-five fantasy football IDP rookies for the 2014 season.
5. LB Dee Ford, Kansas City Chiefs
5. LB Dee Ford, Kansas City Chiefs
Ford won’t be starting anytime soon, since the team is already stacked at linebacker and the rookie is transitioning to a different position. However, his explosiveness and ability to get to the quarterback should allow him to still rack up five-plus sacks this year. Kansas City knows how to get the most out of their defense and Ford was drafted in the first round for a reason. Look for him to be an outstanding situational pass rusher in 2014.
4. LB C.J. Mosley, Baltimore Raves
4. LB C.J. Mosley, Baltimore Raves
Mosley has fit in perfectly this offseason with the Ravens. He has looked much better than Arthur Brown in camp and the rookie should secure the starting spot sooner rather than later. Mosley will be the future face of this aging unit's linebacker core and he has several 100-tackle seasons ahead of him.
3. LB Ryan Shazier, Pittsburgh Steelers
3. LB Ryan Shazier, Pittsburgh Steelers
Shazier has looked great in camp and the rookie is pegged to earn he starting spot as the weakside-inside linebacker. He was a Combine warrior this winter, as he has a 42-inch vertical and ran a sizzling 4.38 forty at his Pro Day. Shazier will instantly fit into the team’s defensive scheme and could develop into a high-end LB2 by the end of the year.
2. LB Anthony Barr, Minnesota Vikings
2. LB Anthony Barr, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota has plenty of tackling linebackers in Erin Henderson and Chad Greenway already on the roster, but the addition of Barr to the outside will instantly add to the defense’s pass rush. Barr racked up 23.5 sacks over the last two seasons at UCLA and has 10-sack potential at the next level. Barr will be a steal as a low-end LB2 this summer.
1. LB Jadeveon Clowney, Houston Texans
1. LB Jadeveon Clowney, Houston Texans
Clowney is the hands down the best pass rusher in this year's draft class. He has the athletic ability of a tight end and the first overall pick will instantly be plugged into one of the most dangerous units in all of football. Clowney will be a perennial 10-sack threat and will start his quest for Canton this fall.
