Streaming starting pitchers can be one of the most effective strategies in fantasy baseball. Here are four guys you should consider spot-starting on Wednesday, July 30.

Danny Duffy vs. Minnesota Twins

Danny Duffy has been excellent this season. He has a 2.47 ERA to go with a 1.08 WHIP and 76 strikeouts over 98.1 innings. Duffy is holding opposing hitters to a microscopic .200 average this season, and over his last 10 starts, he has a 1.86 ERA to go with a 0.98 WHIP. Additionally, he’s facing a Twins offense on Wednesday that’s been below average against left-handed pitching.

Joe Kelly @ San Diego Padres

Joe Kelly was awful in his last start (five earned runs in 4.2 innings), but thankfully for him, he gets a chance to bounce back against a miserable Padres offense. The Padres’ offense has been “hot” (okay, so really they just haven’t been the worst offense of the month) in July, but they still rank in the bottom three in pretty much every statistic for the season; there may not be a better pitchers park than Petco Park.

Wade Miley @ Cincinnati Reds

I’d describe Wade Miley’s season so far as “meh.” He has a 4.34 ERA to go with a 1.27 WHIP and 131 strikeouts in 139 innings. Miley has allowed three or fewer runs in 14 of his 22 of his starts, but that means he’s allowed four or more in the other eight. He may be a risk worth taking on Wednesday, as he gets to face a Reds offense that is 27th in MLB with an 89 wRC+ against left-handed pitching (meaning they’ve scored 11 percent fewer runs than the league average), and they’re also 23rd with a .303 wOBA.

Charlie Morton @ San Francisco Giants

Charlie Morton has been roughed up a bit in his last three starts (11 earned runs in 19 innings), but I’m willing to give him a pass because one of those starts was in Coors Field, one week after he had already faced the Colorado Rockies. Morton still owns a very respective 3.40 ERA this season to go with a 1.18 WHIP and 106 strikeouts in 132.1 innings, and he gets to face a Giants offense that has struggled at home. San Francisco is 28th in baseball with a .295 wOBA at home this season, 24th with a .125 ISO and 26th with a .669 OPS.
