If there is one player who is being overlooked in the fantasy football community, it is Torrey Smith.

The Baltimore Ravens had a rocky offense in 2013 as the team finished with the 18th-most passing yards and a dismal 83 rushing yards per game. Despite the team producing poor numbers, Smith was able to have the best season of his career in regards to receptions and receiving yards. With more talent surrounding him, the 25-year-old receiver could take another step forward in 2014.

Smith totaled h 65 receptions and 1,128 receiving yards in 2013, which helped to allow him to finish as a top-20 receiver in standard scoring leagues. Some fantasy players could be concerned with the fact that Smith only caught four touchdowns, but quarterback Joe Flacco only threw 19 the whole year. Smith finished with the second-most touchdowns on the team, and he accounted for 21 percent of Flacco’s touchdown passes.

So while his touchdown total wasn’t great in 2013, the offense will have a more balanced attack, which will allow Flacco to make better passes and score more.

Aside from the poor rushing attack, Smith was often the lone weapon in the offense. With the return of a healthy Dennis Pitta and the additions of Owen Daniels and Steve Smith, defenses will have a hard time containing the original Smith. So far, the first-team offense looks much smoother in the preseason, and Gary Kubiak is known for showcasing his players’ talents.

Flacco has never totaled more than 25 touchdown passes in a season, but with more consistency and strong weapons, he could be able to surpass that number.

According to Fantasy Football Calculator, Smith is being selected in the start of the sixth round. For a player who can provide you with more than 1,000 receiving yards and 5-8 touchdowns, he is being greatly undervalued. Take advantage of becoming a Smith owner.
