Fantasy Football Week 1 Start or Sit: Bishop Sankey

With Ken Whisenhunt taking over as head coach, the Tennessee Titans will be much-improved on the offensive side of the ball. While Jake Locker is likely in a do-or-die year as the signal-caller, it is nice to know that he has two solid running backs in his backfield in rookie Bishop Sankey and Shonn Greene. The combination of Sankey and Greene will probably split carries for the first part of the season, but it shouldn’t be long until the rookie gets the majority of the carries.

Coming out of Washington, Sankey has experience in a spread offense. Under Whisenhunt, the Titans will spread the field and that will open up huge holes for Sankey. Perhaps the best trait about Sankey is his field vision. The Titans’ matchup in Week 1 is most certainly a tough one. The Titans will be on the road to face one of the toughest defenses in the NFL in the Kansas City Chiefs. This will scare away some Sankey fantasy football owners, but the reality is that you should play him.

Every year, there are always rookie running backs that have a lot of questions. Last year it was Doug Martin that burst onto the scene. This year, I fully believe Sankey will take the league by storm. Another thing Sankey has going for him is one of the best offensive lines in the league. He may not get a lot of carries, but Sankey will get his opportunities in and out of the red zone. With all of that being said, I would start Sankey on Sunday.
