Eddie Lacy Injury Update For Fantasy Football Week 2

Lacy in action

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

If you are one of the fantasy football participants who was able to draft Eddie Lacy of the Green Bay Packers, you were probably thrilled. There weren’t a lot of elite running backs available, and Lacy certainly projected to be in the Top 5 in pretty much every draft list. I know that I was very excited to have Lacy back on my team for a second year.

However, if you were anything like me when you read the news on Lacy leaving Sunday’s game because of a concussion, you probably got a sick feeling in your stomach. That is very concerning when you know that he had a concussion last year, and with what we now know about head injuries, hopefully this won’t be a continuing issue. He did leave Sunday’s game quietly and under his own power, so that is a good sign.

It looks as if he could potentially be back for Week 2 when the Packers play the New York Jets. He did clear the first step of the NFL‘s concussion protocol, which is always positive. An injury like this always needs to be dealt with very carefully, but he seems at least possible to be able to play for Week 2. He also reported to the Packers’ training facility on Monday, which shows that he felt well enough to report. One other thing that might work in Lacy’s favor is that the Packers don’t play for 10 days, which might give him enough time to recover.

My guess is that you should have one of your running backs who are on the bench at the ready, and perhaps be ready to make that move right up until game time. I think Lacy could be ready to play, but he could be held back just to be on the safe side. You may want to have some running backs at the ready. Shoot, I just gave away my strategy. Hopefully my competitor won’t read this.
