Fantasy Football 3 Waiver Wire Pickup: Knile Davis

Davis at work

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the most dynamic running backs in the NFL. His name is, of course, Jamaal Charles and he was a must-have player for pretty much any fantasy owner. Unfortunately, he had to leave the game against the Denver Broncos today due to an ankle injury. However, some fantasy football owners got very lucky because his replacement Knile Davis had a fantastic performance.

Davis scored two touchdowns and had 22 catches for 79 yards. In the league that I participate in, he managed to contribute 27 points to my team. This is the player who I drafted dead last on my team and considered the fourth running back out of the four backs that I keep on the bench. There didn’t seem to be any reason to expect this type of performance from him, especially because he only caught one pass the week before.

If Davis continues to put up these sort of numbers, he could be very useful as a second or third running back in many leagues or he could be utilized in a flex position. As well, if his production turns out to not be a fluke, he could be of help when players in your starting lineup start having their bye weeks.

I am still not quite sold on him yet just because he really has been pretty much a backup for most of his career. However, he does have some speed in what seems to be a run-heavy offense. His skill set could really do a lot for the Chiefs, which in turn could do a lot for your team.

I don’t know about your team, but my last-place pick could be the key to the first victory of the season for my team.
