Wide receiver Brandon Marshall deserves much respect for playing through an injury, but really should have used more caution. As one of the top offensive performers on the Chicago Bears, Marshall’s fantasy football stock value took a dip recently since his ankle injury became more of an issue than originally anticipated.
There is a major possibility that Marshall might miss his a big Week 4 matchup against the Green Bay Packers, considering he hasn’t practiced all week long. Fantasy football owners everywhere should be weary and have a backup plan ready should he be listed on the IR, which should be available a few hours before game time.
With a diminished role on offense for preventative reasons due to his nagging injury, Marshall’s stats have steadily declined each week. Perhaps a week off will help him get the time needed to heal up back to health and live up to his potential. So far, fantasy owners have been rather disappointed in his slow start this season which wasn’t what most expected.
If he does get the nod to start this game, it’s in the best interest of owners to still sit him and look for your WR3 or WR4 option instead based on the defenses they are facing. Marshall only had one reception last week against the weak defensive secondary of the New York Jets, which is a big indication that he’s not really playing to his full capability.
Overall, it all boils down to the fact that, for this particular week, stay away from Marshall as his injuries will get the best of him against a strong Packers’ defense. While the Bears will be tempted to start him anyway since it’s a huge rivalry game, don’t expect much out of Marshall this week.
