Fantasy Football Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickup: WR Travis Benjamin

One of the biggest surprises from Week 5 of the fantasy football season was the performance of Cleveland Browns WR Travis Benjamin.

The young wideout hauled in four balls for 48 yards with two huge touchdown grabs against the Tennessee Titans. Benjamin nearly doubled his fantasy value from the previous three games and he quickly gained the attention of the fantasy world in the process.

While Cleveland’s offense hasn’t taken off under QB Brian Hoyer, he has quietly led the team to a 3-2 record. He also has the team ranked 15th in the league with 243.8 passing yards per game, which was almost unthinkable at the beginning of the season considering the team’s depth on the outside.

Cleveland has seen many wideouts receive targets this season. Veteran Miles Austin has had a rebound season, while Andrew Hawkins has enjoyed a strong season in his own right. Somehow, though, Benjamin has still found a niche within this faceless offense. He should continue to see targets after his breakout game, as the offense continues to search for an identity week after week.

Benjamin has racked up back-to-back games with over 40 yards and will be worth a look with all the bye weeks coming around. He can be a decent WR5 to grab off the waiver wire, and even better, he won’t come with much risk at this point in the season.
