Ronnie Hillman Fantasy Football Week 6 Projection

As the injuries start to pile up around the fantasy football world, the latest name to add to the list is  Denver Broncos RB Montee Ball. He went down in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals with a groin injury and the latest prognosis doesn’t look good for the young back. It looks like Ball will be out for several weeks and could even be out for three weeks.

Luckily, this will be the perfect time for Ronnie Hillman to prove he can still be a valuable fantasy option. Hillman spelled Ball in the Week 5 and the back ended up having a decent showing by racking up 64 yards on 15 carries.

Without Ball to lean on, Hillman will see a heavy dose of the rock this weekend. The offense obviously runs through QB Peyton Manning, but the team still established the run quite well for a team that torches people with their aerial attack. With Hillman as the starting back, he could see close to 20 overall touches.

Unfortunately, Denver has a very tough matchup in Week 6 against the stout defense of the New York Jets. The unit is ranked sixth in the league against the run (83 yards/ game) and opposing running backs are only averaging 6.0 fantasy points per week against the tough interior defense, which is the tops in all of football. Needless to say, Hillman won’t have much room to work with this weekend.

Hillman may have won the starting job in Denver by default, but he won’t be worth starting this weekend. He has an impossible matchup and all signs are pointing towards him having a lackluster outing in Week 6.

Week 6 Prediction: 16 ATT., 43 YDS, 2 REC., 14 YDS, 0 TDS
