As usual, several big name players went down with injuries in Week 5. To help you decide which players to keep an eye on in the next few days, here 10 injured players to watch closely this week.

10. RB DeAngelo Williams, Carolina Panthers

Williams missed another contest this past weekend with a lingering ankle injury. He was in a hard-cast earlier this month and the veteran will likely need at least one more week before returning to action.

Injury: Ankle

Bell suffered a nasty concussion in Week 4 and the back has yet to return to the field. He progressed well this week, but he wasn’t able to pass all the tests before the team’s Week 5 contest. Fortunately, Bell should be ready for Week 6.

Injury: Concussion

8. RB Bernard Pierce, Baltimore Ravens

Pierce missed a game with a thigh injury in Week 3 and the team has been very careful with him upon his return. He only saw four rushed last week and appears to be losing touches to the Justin Forsell/Lorenzo Taliaferro monster. He should be ready to got this week, it will only be a matter of how many touches he will see in the crowded backfield.

Injury: Thigh

7. RB Knowshon Moreno, Miami Dolphins

Moreno racked up 134 yards and a TD in Week 1, but he has unfortunately been out for weeks after dislocating his elbow in Week 2. Despite his poor joke last week, he appears to be ready to return in Week 6. Feel free to pick him up in all formats.

Injury: Elbow

6. QB Carson Palmer, Arizona Cardinals

Palmer has missed the past three games with a nagging shoulder injury. He has been seeing a nerve specialist for treatment and appears to be close to returning to action. Head coach Bruce Arians expressed that he wants Palmer to participate in one full practice before he starts, so Palmer's status will be up in the air until alter in the week.

Injury: Shoulder

5. RB Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills

Jackson was forced to leave Sunday’s game against Detroit with a minor ankle sprain. He did return and finish the game, so I don’t think it will keep the veteran out in Week 6.

Injury: Ankle

4. RB Donald Brown, San Diego Chargers

Brown exited the Week 5 game with a nasty concussion. It was unfortunate because he gained control of the starting gig after injuries to Ryan Mathews/Danny Woodhead. Considering the league’s strict concussion policy, though, it is likely he will miss next week’s game. Go grab Branden Oilver ASAP.

Injury: Concussion

3. RB Rashad Jennings, New York Giants

Jennings was having another strong game in Week 5 before going down with a knee injury. After a Monday MRI, it was revealed that he has a sprained MCL. Fans should expect him to miss Week 6, and he could even be held out until after the team’s Week 8 bye.

Injury: Knee

Ball came out of last week’s game against the Cardinals and the news doesn’t look good. It was revealed that he had a groin strain after a MRI on Monday and he could be out as many as three weeks. Fantasy fans should add Ronnie Hillman now, because he won't be there next week.

Injury: Groin

If ever there was a year not to own Calvin Johnson, it appears this is that year. He has been plagued by an ankle injury for weeks now and has caught only three passes for 19 yards over the past two games. Detroit is thinking of shutting him down for a couple weeks, and as of right now, his Week 6 status doesn't look good.
