Reggie Bush Fantasy Football Week 6 Projection

Reggie Bush

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Coming into the season, Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush was poised to have a breakout year after finishing last season with a career-high 1,612 yards from scrimmage; but so far Bush has been struggled through the first five weeks of the season.

Through his first five games, Bush has accumulated a grand total of 45 carries for 161 yards and just one touchdown, bringing his average to 3.6 yards per carry.  Combine that with his 20 receptions for 142 yards and zero touchdowns and Bush is a below average flex option at best, far removed from the dynamic playmaker he was brought into Detroit to be.

To make matters worse, during Sunday’s loss to the Buffalo Bills, Bush suffered an ankle injury, making his status for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings questionable. As it looks like Detroit will be without star wide receiver Calvin Johnson, Bush becomes all that more important to the Lions’ offense.

If Bush is not able to play, the Lions will have to rely on fourth-string running back George Winn, as Joique Bell and Theo Riddick are also injured.

Because Bush did not practice on Wednesday, it looks unlikely that he will be ready to play on Sunday; even if he does, fantasy football owners should not expect a huge game as head coach Jim Caldwell will want to take it easy on him to avoid sidelining any more of his offensive weapons.

Fantasy Football Week 6 Projection: Five carries for 12 yards and zero touchdowns, three receptions for 18 yards and zero touchdowns
