A.J. Green Fantasy Football Week 8 Projection

A.J. Green

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Cincinnati Bengals superstar wide out A.J. Green (toe) has all the makings of being a royal pain in the neck for fantasy football owners when it comes to starting him on Sunday.

The fourth-year pro out of Georgia did not practice again Thursday, after it was rumored he was making tremendous strides to get back on the field earlier this week. When healthy, Green is a no-brainer when it comes to starting him each week in fantasy football, but this week could have you sweating bullets before his 1 p.m. kickoff. If he practices in any capacity on Friday it could possibly lay the foundation for a game-time decision call come Sunday afternoon.

If Green can make it back on the field he deserves WR1 consideration, even with the lingering toe injury. In Week 8 the Bengals play host to their division foes the Baltimore Ravens, where Green has absolutely torched them in his last three matchups. Green has averaged six receptions on 11.3 targets for 114.3 yards and a touchdown in each of the last three contests against the Ravens.

If Green is unable to go on Sunday WR Mohamed Sanu will once again receive fantasy relevance. Sanu has had decent success as QB Andy Dalton’s No. 1 receiver, so he will be a nice WR2 for your team if Green can’t play.

It looks like fantasy owners of Green will be glued to their laptops or keeping their cellphones close by on Sunday, waiting for that vital update on their stud WR’s status. My advice is to wait and see. If Green gets the green light then he is an automatic WR1; if not, you’re going to have to look elsewhere for your starter.

Fantasy Forecast if Green is healthy: Five receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown.
