Any fantasy football owner who even thinks about dropping or giving up on San Diego Chargers rookie running back Branden Oliver is making a big mistake. Oliver rocked the NFL in Week 5 with his 30-plus point fantasy performance against the New York Jets, but things have been on the down-slope for him, since his glorious debut start as the Chargers’ featured RB.

In his last two games, Oliver hasn’t even combined to score 20 fantasy points in standard leagues, so what’s going on? Oliver hasn’t suddenly become worse, he’s just had to face some of the toughest defenses in the league from teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos.

However, in Week 9, Oliver will dominate the touches in San Diego’s backfield against the Miami Dolphins — a team that has struggled to contain opposing running backs over the last three weeks and Jacksonville Jaguars rookie RB Denard Robinson rushed for 90 yards against the Dolphins last week in the first half alone.

With Ryan Mathews still not ready to step onto the field, Oliver will have another opportunity to show the Chargers why they should keep him as their feature RB for the rest of the season. Hopefully, you will keep him on your team and feature him as your RB as well.

Feel free to start Oliver as a RB2 or at the flex position in Week 9. This little guy is due for a another big game.
