NFL FanDuel Week 16 Bargain: RB Joseph Randle

Luckily for FanDuel participants, the game’s system doesn’t update fast enough week-to-week to include all injury related stock increases and decreases for players. This week, one of those lucky players to be kept on the low end of the price tag is Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle. He’s likely starting this week because of DeMarco Murray‘s hand injury.

Murray had been a FanDuel star for players with the foresight to add him to their weekly roster when he was on the edge of top ten status. But now he’s one of the most expensive players to add at $9.3 million as he was on pace to crack 2,000 rushing yards this season. With Murray out of the picture due to hand surgery, there is a spot for Randle (who costs a mere $4.9 million) to run wild this week against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts have been like Swiss cheese to opposing running backs this season. They’re allowing the seventh most points to the position this season, including a monstrous 50 points to the New England Patriots. That performance was large in part thanks to 44 points from fill-in back Jonas Gray, much like Randle is acting as this week.

Of course, that is not to say that  the Colts are necessarily susceptible to backups, but it does teach you not to count someone out just because of their inexperience. Randle has had a lot more experience this season though, and should be ready to fill in for Murray.

He’s been Murray’s understudy this season, taking some of the workload off of the Pro Bowl hopeful RB. On Randle’s 34 attempts this season, he’s averaging a monstrous seven yards per carry. Assuming he takes on the starting role in full — fifteen attempts to be safe — he could be looking at pushing against the century mark with the great offensive line in front of him as well as a score.

There’s very few players out there this week with the bargain value Randle presents. Adding him to your roster will save you about $4 million opposed to a typical starting running back, allowing you to stock up on other positions.
