Fantasy Football Week 17 Sleeper: QB Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewater

With most fantasy leagues crowning their champion yesterday, there are those still fighting for the crown in Week 17. If you are still competing in a fantasy league, good luck. If you have a quarterback that may not play all game because his team clinched the division, then you have to look elsewhere. Teddy Bridgewater and the Minnesota Vikings have a great matchup in Week 17 and could be a potential starter in some leagues.

Bridgewater has looked very good over the last five weeks. He has scored 14 or more fantasy points in those games. Bridgewater has thrown 1,231 yards for nine touchdowns and just five interceptions. In those five games, he had two 300-yard games and completed 70 percent of his passes in four straight games.

In the Week 16 game, Bridgewater missed just seven passes and connected with nine different receivers. He’s improved throughout the season and has been the best rookie quarterback in 2014.

The Vikings offense has gotten better over these last few weeks, too. The running game looks good with Matt Asiata pounding it up the middle, which opens up the field for Bridgewater. Even with the young receiving corps, Cordarrelle PattersonJarius Wright and Charles Johnson, Bridgewater is making smart throws and limiting the turnovers.

Looking ahead to Week 17, the Vikings finish the season at home against the Chicago Bears. The Bears defense isn’t what your father grew up watching. This defense is tied for allowing the most passing touchdowns this season.

Bridgewater is currently owned in 6.1 percent of ESPN.com leagues. If you are in need of a quarterback, especially if you are in a two-quarterback league, Bridgewater is a nice sleeper.
