Fantasy Football Week 17 Sleeper: RB Andre Williams

Andre Williams

Wekk 17 rarely sees any fantasy football action as most leagues finished last week. If you are in the small percentage of leagues that continue, then you still need some help. New York Giants‘ rookie running back Andre Williams has played well over the last three weeks and could shine in Week 17. If you need a flex or RB3 option, Williams is still widely available.

The Giants signed Rashad Jennings in hope to rejuvinate the running game. He showed some flashes of a good running back, but has been disappointing overall. Williams has six double-digit outings compared to Jennings’ four. Over the last three weeks, Williams has 68 carries for 285 yards and a touchdown.

Last week against the St. Louis Rams, one of the better rush defenses, Williams had a career-high 65 yards after initial contact and 110 rushing yards in total. Jennings had just one game in which he eclipsed 100 yards, back in Week 3.

Jennings has missed the last two games with an ankle injury, which has allowed Williams to show off his skills. The Giants have little to play for in Week 17, so Jennings may miss the final game of the season.

The Giants welcome division rival Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have allowed the seventh-most fantasy points to running backs since Week 12. The Eagles have struggled on defense all season, so Williams should take advantage of this matchup.

Williams is owned in 46.1 percent of ESPN.com leagues, a jump of 10 percent since last week. The great matchup and lack of competition for the starting job in Week 17 makes Williams a great flex play for the final game of the 2014 fantasy season.
