When the 2014-15 fantasy basketball season tipped off, the two frontrunners for the fantasy MVP was LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Kevin Durant of the Okalahoma City Thunder. Through the first half of the season, though, the most obvious fantasy MVP candidate is James Harden of the Houston Rockets.

Harden has continued to improve and has quickly become one of the top players in all of fantasy. He is scoring a gaudy 27 points per game, which is way above his career average of 19 points per game. He is the top scorer in the NBA at the moment and is making highlight reel plays on a nightly basis for fantasy fans.

As if his jaw-dropping point total wasn’t enough, Harden is also filling the box score like an MVP. He is also posting an impressive 6.8 assists, 5.6 rebounds, 2.7 triple and 2 steals per contest. He is posting elite level stats across the board and is outperforming several other first rounds picks.

Harden has done everything for Houston this year and he was certainly worth the early pick this winter. The Beard is the clear choice so far for the fantasy MVP.
