NHL Fantasy Hat Trick
Hot and Cold Edition
January 22nd, 2012

This is a fantasy hockey based weekly blog, where I will feature 3 hot and 3 cold players each week, every weekend. So that you can use my suggestions, update and prepare your fantasy teams accordingly for the coming week.

Now even though it is a shorten week because of the NHL All-Star, I will still be featuring player’s who are on hot and cold streaks.

3 HOT
Evgeni Malkin (PIT) – At the all-star break Malkin’s 26 goals and 32 assist has put himself at the top in the NHL scoring race. Malkin’s 8 goals a 4 assist, with a plus 9 was nothing short of amazing over the last 14 days.

Sergei Kostitsyn (NSH) – Kostitsyn 7 goals and 4 assist has helped the Nashville Predators to a 10-2 record for the month of January. This isn’t the first time Kostitsyn has been hot in the month of January. Last season Kostitsyn recorded 5 goals and 5 assist. Kostitsyn is only owned in 10% of yahoo leagues and could be an asset as you head towards your fantasy hockey playoffs.

Erik Cole (MTL)
Cole has played fantastic in December and January, after a less than impressive October and November. Cole’s 9 goals, 4 assist in December, along with 3 goals, 9 assist in January, has led Cole to the top of the stats sheet in Montreal. Cole is an everyday fantasy starter.

3 COLD
Zdeno Chara (BOS) – I sure hope Chara being one the captains in the NHL All-Star weekend will help him out of his winter slump. Chara has registered only 4 points this month, but with his 27 points this season, Chara is on pace to get 47 points.

Thomas Vanek (BUF) – Vanek, at 0 goals and 0 assist, has played dismal over his last 14 days. If Vanek does not come out recording points after the all-star game, I would strongly suggest sitting Vanek in your fantasy teams for the time being.

Brandon Dubinsky (NYR) – Following a career year in goals and point for Dubinsky last season. The New York stud has preformed below expectations this year, as he is only on pace for 37 points this season.
