[UPDATE] Milan Lucic’s Vandalized Church Said “Goodbye Graffiti”
Dave White - NEWS1130 (VANCOUVER)

Not long after the buzz of this story made it’s way around the internet yesterday (as I posted here on Rant), the disrespectful graffiti that vandalized the St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church on Canada Way since last weekend was quickly removed and is now good as gone.  It wouldn’t have been possible without the help and kindness of a local company along with a few area school kids.

It’s appropriate that the company that offered to lend a helping hand in the clean-up is called “Goodbye Graffiti” and owner Jason Boyne understands the negative reaction it has stirred up according to News1130 – Vancouver:

Boyne isn’t surprised Canucks fans are taking a lashing online; some have accused the city of lacking class and sportsmanship. “The minute this happened, it’s all across the country or the world, and just one more bad mark for Vancouver, I was here round for ’94 and then this, but what can you do, just try and clean and help out where you can.”

And according to CBC News, even Milan Lucic himself believes that all of Vancouver (and Canucks fans) cannot be lumped together as a group just because one or a few had a really bad idea:

“It reflects badly against the people of Vancouver, which I’ve defended especially after what happened after the finals last year, so it’s unnecessary and it’s unfortunate,” Lucic said.

“I know the whole community is not happy with something like this happening. Obviously, they’re proud that a Serbian boy is out fulfilling his dreams and doing so well at such a high level in the NHL.”

One thing is for sure, the person or people who created this awful situation void of good intentions ultimately led good citizens and genuine people of Vancouver to step up and do the right thing (the church would’ve had to pay $5,000 to remove the graffiti without “Goodbye Graffiti” doing it free of charge).
